Gallbladder-safe stuff that doesn’t suck

(A resource roundup for anyone trying not to die of organ betrayal)

Let’s be honest: living that low-fat, anti-inflammatory life isn’t always glamorous. You’re probably Googling “what can I eat without triggering a gallbladder attack” at 2 a.m. while hunched over a heating pad. Welcome to the club.

Here’s the stuff I actually use and eat, after much trial, error, and questionable decisions.

Pantry MVPs

These are low-fat, low-trigger staples I keep stocked. Note that I’m in Canada, so all products have Canadian links.

  • Brown Rice – I’m not joking when I say I don’t eat white rice anymore because I actually prefer brown. Sure, it takes a little longer to cook, but it’s well worth it. Jasmine is my fav! Check out Yupik Organic Brown Jasmine Rice.
  • Brown Rice Cakes – boring? Yes. Safe? Also yes. Quaker Crispy Minis Original Large Brown Rice Cakes. Let’s keep this brown rice train going (TOOT TOOT)
  • Roasted fava beans – check out Three Farmers Roasted Fava Beans variety pack. So many good flavours and SO healthy!
  • Whole Wheat Tortillas – a must, and way healthier (and frankly, tastier) than white tortillas. I’m a fan of the Blue Menu PC Brand.
  • Pop Chips – this popped potato snack by Pop Chips is never fried and hits all the right buttons. My favourite flavour is the BBQ!
  • Pumpkin seeds – I eat these alone or as a salad topper for a satisfying crunch. I’m a fan of this Yupik brand from Amazon.

Wellness-adjacent (without the Goop)

  • Garlic capsules – I take one per day, per my dietician (because I also have high cholesterol, yay!) of Nature’s Bounty Odourless Garlic 1000mg
  • Plant sterols – again, because of the cholesterol thing, I take 3 Swiss Natural Cholessterol with Vegapure capsules per day with meals
    • Fun fact: I’ve been taking both of these for close to one year now and seen a significant dip in my cholesterol levels!
  • Heated bean bag – the only thing, other than a hot shower, that somewhat helps my gallbladder attack pain. A must-have on hand at all times. I use this one from Amazon.

I’m not a doctor. I’m just a person who’s made enough food mistakes to blog about it. Please talk to yours before trying anything new.
